The design of the BAR is a response to the eventful and festive atmosphere along the banks of River Seine. The Champaign bar symbolise celebration, it is a place for special occasion in glamourise and extravagant fashion.
The bar is an ellipsoidal frame glass structure siting at street levels. It is designed to appear as levitating above river bank, this highly visible form it’s aimed to display its unique form and character to its surroundings without physically interrupting the existing activities and pedestrian flow. The visual presence of the bar captures and absorbs the spirit of the place and its surrounds, and radiates back with a glimpse of glamour.
Following an urban analysis and research, we propose the main access from Francois Mitterrand Quay, where bus stop and taxi drop-off is located, as well as main pedestrian’s movement.
Champagne Bar is composed with two main elements, ellipsoidal enclosure on a pre-cast textured concrete core. External finish is three dimensions steel structure, filled with a concentrating solar system which is developed by The Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE). The system is made up of pyramid-shaped glass receptors that move with sunlight throughout the day, magnifying the incoming light and capturing it in a small photovoltaic cell located in the centre of each pyramid. In order to to subsequently change it into energy to run the building.
The geometry of pyramid-shaped glass diffract the light and primary create unique sparkly atmosphere inside of the bar. Additionally glass is reflecting sunlight to surrounding, casting diffracted light on river site, and vice-versa. Reinforced casted concrete creates primary structure in space fluid.
Entrance hall and facilities are located in north side of the building, while south is preserve for sitting area for the stunning view over Seine River and Pont des Arts. A pneumatic system integrated with ellipsoidal structure opens part of external shell in summer transform viewing area into terrace.

Sparkly champagne is like diamonds. Alluring and mesmerising. Diamonds are like stars on the night sky. Shining and elusive. And the night sky is a promise of fairytale moments.
